Learn about our journey, values, and commitment to creating sustainable change across Africa.
Global Eco Oasis Sustainable Initiative (GESI) is a youth-led, research-driven non-governmental organization working at the intersection of environmental stewardship, public health, and social equity.
We are committed to reducing the burden of preventable diseases and addressing the socioeconomic disadvantages faced by marginalized communities in Nigeria and across Africa.
At GESI, we believe that systemic gaps in public health and environmental infrastructure are root drivers of poor health outcomes and persistent poverty. Our approach is grounded in rigorous scientific and social research to uncover underlying causes of these challenges and to design innovative, locally appropriate, and cost-effective solutions that communities can sustain.
GESI was founded by a group of young researchers passionate about addressing the interconnected challenges of environmental degradation and public health disparities in African communities.
Launched our first community health assessments and environmental sustainability projects in underserved Nigerian communities, establishing our participatory research approach.
Expanded our research initiatives across West Africa, partnering with local universities and community organizations to scale our evidence-based interventions.
Grew our team to 50+ youth researchers, implemented projects in 15+ communities, and gained recognition for our innovative approach to sustainable development.
Expanding our reach across Africa, developing new research methodologies, and advocating for policy changes based on our community-driven findings.
